Doug Jack is the sole director of Transport Resources International Limited. He graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Scots Law and has worked in the commercial vehicle industry for his entire career. He joined Leyland Motors Limited in 1964 as a graduate trainee. That consisted of one year working in various departments, one month at a time, learning how to build trucks and buses, and their main component parts. This gave him very valuable engineering experience.
Following the merger of Leyland Motor Corporation and British Motor Holdings in 1968, he became Legal Advisor, British Leyland Truck & Bus Division in 1968 and, additionally, Company Secretary in 1970. Doug became increasingly involved in major export licensing and sales agreements, especially in Spain, Morocco and Turkey. He subsequently became Export Sales Manager of Truck and Bus Division in 1975, then Export Sales Director, Passenger Vehicle Division in 1978, (ie buses and coaches), then Regional Director, Middle East & North Africa in 1979 (with responsibility for trucks and buses).
Doug subsequently became Sales Marketing Director, Duple Coach Builders Ltd from 1981 to 1983, introducing a new and more modern range of products to the market. He was then appointed Managing Director, Salvador Caetano (UK) Limited and established a British subsidiary for the Portuguese body builder.
